Yahoo pipes has closed down why this post might be irrelevant

There are a lot of great tools out there for monitoring news sites etc. online, but most of them lack the flexibility to tweak them for your own needs. Let’s say you’d like to track what people say about you on twitter and Swedish blogs (via and Using RSS-feeds in a reader is one way to do this, but it is not always that easy to get the whole picture that way.

I modified Olle Ahnve’s Yahoo Pipe to suit my needs, added twitter and updated some of the other queries and got my own pipes, one with twitter and one without. I wanted one without twitter so that not all my tweets show up in my business intelligence report.

The beautiful part here is that now I can search for whatever company or personal brand and get an RSS feed in an instant covering 13 sources and search engines, which will help me keep up to date with what other people write about me, my clients, my clients products and specific industries. If I like to add a source or modify the feeds, I change the pipe and all the feeds will change accordingly.

Just to show a few cases where I have used it today, here is my personal site with Online media content from the Yahoo pipe and another example is my friend Che’s online store, where we very quickly integrated a feed in the right column to show what blogs writes about her web shop NukNuk. I both cases I used Feed Informer to tweak the final feeds to fit the websites.

Do you have any suggestions on how to improve the search for up to date business intelligence? Please post a comment.
